Questions to Ask Before Your Next Webcast
In the second article in this webcasting series, we introduced the three main components of webcasting: Network, Platform, and Hardware. Keep those components in mind when planning for your next webcasting event. Ask yourself the following questions:
Is the network adequate for my webcast location?
A network that meets your webcasting requirements is necessary to keep in mind when planning your next webcast. Depending on the video quality you want, you must determine the upload speed you need. For greater video quality, you will need faster internet. To make this easier on you, the chart below displays our recommendations.

Who will need access to this webcast?
Think about your audience. Will the webcast be publicly available? Or, will you need secure access? If it will be open to the public, decide on the streaming platform you want to use for hosting your webcast. If security is essential, a hosted solution will be a better option.
How will I use my next webcast?
Referring back to our previous blog posts, think about how you want to use your next webcast. Depending on who you are trying to reach and your preferred location, consider whether a remote, studio, or live event webcasting option serves you best.
Webcasting from a remote location: Choose this option if you are hosting an event, presentation, or meeting at your venue.
Studio webcasting: This is the best option if you need complete control of your environment for a broadcasting experience that appeals to both you and your audience.
Adding webcasting to a live event: This option is best if you have an existing event that you want to broadcast to reach a broader audience.
Do I want to self-host my next webcast or partner with a professional AV provider?
There are several scenarios for you to “self-host” webcasts. Companies do it every day with services like Google Hangouts, Zoom, and WebEx. When your meeting needs to provide a dependable webcast as a replacement for a live event or as an added component to a live event, consider an AV provider like LEMG.
